Welcome to the Promo Spotlight! Each month I will look at some of the best promotions that have taken place around the sports world and share them with you. Promotions play an important part in enhancing the fan experience and can sometimes be the deciding factor in someone going to a game or not. From ticket specials to giveaways, promotions are a great way to engage fans and give them a little “something extra.”

This week marks the beginning of the best month in basketball. The madness starts with conference championship tournaments kicking off on Monday and going through March 12th. As with any big sporting event, this provides sports marketing professionals the opportunity to tell the intriguing stories of the athletes and coaches giving their all on the court. Amidst all the triumphs and heartbreak that go along with the month of March, here are three particular storylines for the slate of conference tournaments that college sports marketers and creators should have a field day with.

February is a great month for baseball fans. Not only is it the start of Spring Training, but they get to prepare for the upcoming season with killer Valentine’s Day promotions. Ticket sales are in full swing, Spring Training is right around the corner, and it’s an easy way to keep the baseball fan in your life happy. The only debate should be whether or not “bae-seball” is an appropriate phrase for the day (it’s probably not).

College basketball season is officially upon us, which means team posters are being revealed. Like football, basketball posters are a great way to show school pride and provide a fun way to display the schedule. Poster Swag once again gathered posters from colleges to show off the creativity of marketing departments and give people the chance to see posters they wouldn’t normally have the chance of seeing.
